Why buy a CD?
The album is available free, so why would you want a CD?
Quality: The MP3 files here and on deshead.com are high-quality, but not CD quality. If you listen to my music through a stereo system with HiFi speakers, or even through decent headphones, you’ll appreciate the extra detail of the CD audio.
Packaging: Even in the age of iPods and WinAMP, CD artwork serves a purpose. You’ve probably found your strongest connection with music involved several of your senses. Maybe it was the light show at a Sigur Ros concert. Or the smell of summer at an outdoor symphony. Or the chest-pounding, bowel-loosening thump of the bass drum in a dance club.
I spent time designing a CD cover that visually compliments the music on my album because I want to impart a little more of the experiences that inspired me, the places and people who touched my senses as I wrote. I want you to hold the case in your hands, and see the wind and the leaves, and be there with me as I sing about storms and trees and summer.
Support: When you buy from an independent artist, you directly support the work of that artist. Your support helps me continue writing and recording, and hopefully you consider that a good thing.
Send a Message: The profit-driven mainstream music industry pays little attention to independent artists. That’s understandable, since there are so many of us, and the demands of the industry’s shareholders dictate that most labels focus on a tight group of highly-profitable artists. However you don’t need a degree in music to hear the effect this has had on the industry. If your visit to this site reflects your feelings on the matter, then consider: When you buy from an independent artist, you “vote with your wallet”. Enough of these votes to enough independent artists, and the big labels might notice it’s possible to make a profit AND offer great music …
